Definitionheat-labile toxin from Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) is an AB toxin that ADP ribosylates and activates adenylate cyclase resulting in ion secretion. This causes cholera-like diarrhea in humans and animals. The B subunit binds ganglioside GM1 in the host cell membrane.
