Definition | A linear tetrapeptide siderophore possessing two hydroxamate and alpha-hydroxycarboxylate with a 1-ornithine-d-hydroxyaspartate-1-serine-1-ornithine backbone. Ornibactin (along with pyochelin) is present mostly in Burkholderia spp. under iron-limiting conditions. Production of both siderophores has been correlated with morbity and mortality in CD patients. |
