Rho-protein regulator-mimicking toxins

Accession VIRO:0000375
DefinitionGroup of toxins which exert their toxic effect by mimicking the natural regulators of Rho proteins in order to modify actin polymerization within the host cell. Activation is generally achieved by mimicking the function of GEFs (guanine nucleotide exchange factors). Inactivation is generally achieved by mimicking the function of GAPs (GTPase-activating proteins).
