fungal succinate dehydrogenase inhibitor [Drug Class]

Ontology CARD's Antibiotic Resistance Ontology
Accession ARO:3009539
DefinitionSuccinate dehydrogenase inhibitors (SDHIs) are a class of compounds that inhibit the specified enzyme that is also known as mitochondrial respiratory Complex II. SDH is a unique enzyme because it participates in both the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle and the electron transport chain (ETC). They have anifungal properties due to their ability to arrest growth, cause cell death, impair sporulation and interfere with hyphal degeneration.
