rifamycin-resistant arabinosyltransferase [AMR Gene Family]

Accession ARO:3003464
DefinitionArabinosyl transferases allow for the polymerization of arabinose to form arabinan. Arabanan is required for formation of mycobacterial cell walls and arabinosyltransferases are targets of the drug ethambutol. Mutations in these genes can confer resistance to rifampicin.
Drug Classrifamycin antibiotic
Resistance Mechanismantibiotic target alteration
