Candida auris ERG11 lanosterol 14-alpha-demethylase with mutations conferring resistance against caspofungin

Ontology CARD's Antibiotic Resistance Ontology
Accession ARO:3009395
Synonym(s)Candidozyma auris
DefinitionThe fungal Erg11 enzyme is lanosterol demethylase belongs to the broader P450 family. The enzyme contributes directly to ergosterol synthesis pathway. Azoles target lanosterol demethylase thereby halting ergosterol production and ultimately compromises fungal cell membrane integrity. Mutations to Erg11 genes have been shown to inhibit echinocandin activity.
AMR Gene Familyechinocandin-resistant fungal cytochrome P450 enzyme
