Download Sequences

Accession ARO:3000528
Synonym(s)Aureomycin
DefinitionChlortetracycline was an early, first-generation tetracycline antibiotic developed in the 1940's. It inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 30S subunit of bacterial ribosomes, preventing the aminoacyl-tRNA from binding to the ribosome.
